Let's Get to Know Victor Akinyemi

❤️ November is our month to get to know the people behind Aortic Hope!
Meet Victor Akinyemi, one of our Medical Social Media Administrators!
Victor works behind the scenes helping us bring medical education and awareness to our social media community. His work helps us take important aortic health information and turn it into content that patients, survivors, caregivers, and families can actually understand and use.
So, when you see educational content pop up in your feed, now you know one of the people helping make it happen! 🩺📱❤️
We’re so happy to have Victor as part of the Aortic Hope family and can’t wait for you to Tell Us More and get to know him a little better!
1. Where are you currently in your medical school journey? I am currently a second-year medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
2. Where you hope that journey ultimately takes you—specialty, career goals, etc. My long-term goal is to become an academic cardiothoracic surgeon, with particular interests in aortic surgery, heart transplantation, heart failure, and mechanical circulatory support. I hope to combine a high-volume clinical practice with research, teaching, and mentorship.
3. A fun or interesting fact about yourself—hobby, hidden talent, favorite pastime, anything! A fun fact about me is that I played Division I college football at Western Illinois University! Outside of medicine, I also enjoy playing the piano.
4. What you enjoy most about volunteering with Aortic Hope? What excites me most about volunteering with Aortic Hope is the opportunity to connect with patients and families affected by aortic disease and make a meaningful impact beyond the clinical setting. I believe that understanding the patient experience is just as important as understanding the medical and surgical aspects of disease. It is a true honor and privilege to learn from survivors, raise awareness about aortic disease, and help provide education, encouragement, and support to individuals navigating their healthcare journeys.
Thanks for sharing a little more about YOU Victor!
