We are very excited to announce the addition of Samantha Colon to the Aortic Hope Team.
Samantha is our new Social Media Administrator focusing on medical topics and the mental health effects of aortic disease.
"Samantha Colon is a dedicated second-year medical student enrolled in a rigorous 7-year combined BS/MD program at the CUNY School of Medicine. She is passionate about healthcare equity and is interested in cardiothoracic surgery. Born and raised in a family that values education and service, Samantha's journey in medicine began with a desire to make a tangible impact on people's lives.
Samantha’s commitment to improving access to care has driven her involvement in research projects aimed at understanding and overcoming barriers that impede patients' ability to receive timely and quality healthcare. Her recent research sheds light on potential healthcare inequalities that congenital heart disease patients face based on their race and socioeconomic status. Additionally, Samantha is interested in minimally invasive treatments for structural heart disease.
Samantha believes that quality and equitable healthcare begins with education. She is honored to be involved with Aortic Hope and looks forward to providing awareness, education, and support to those affected by aortic disease. "
Please welcome Samantha.Â
