It's Therapeutic Thursday at Aortic Hope.
♥️Many of us have signed up for our free month with Help Texts (https://helptexts.com/AorticHope) and we want to share with you some of the tips that we have received.
♥️"There is a difference between healthy anxiety and anxiety that impairs your daily functioning.
♥️Healthy anxiety is brief and often coupled with something new or exciting. Anxiety that is experienced persistently and attached to worry or fear can feel out of control. Because anxiety is an experience, you do have control. Pausing, breathing, distraction and movement can help you quickly regain control of your body and mind."
👇Here are a few tips to help alleviate the anxiety one may feel:
-"The 'physiological sigh' is a proven breathing technique that helps your body calm down quickly. It is two short inhales through your nose and one long exhale through the mouth. Make sure that your exhale is longer than your short inhales. Repeat this 3 times. Try it now for immediate relief."
-" If you notice tension in your body, try progressive muscle relaxation. You can sit or stand for this. Starting at your head, tighten up all the muscles in your face. Inhale, hold for a moment, and relax your muscles as you exhale. Then, tighten your arms and chest. Inhale, hold, and exhale. Repeat for your legs and toes. Lastly, tighten your entire body. Inhale, hold, and exhale. This can help bring awareness to your body and reduce tension."
