Scott's Story:

In November 2022, I experienced a Type A Aortic Dissection (AD) and open-heart-surgery (OHS) repair (I have video of the helicopter ride to the 2nd hospital in Virginia)!Ā  A year later I had a Type B Aortic Dissection repair by OHS (ā€œfrozen elephant trunk and TEVAR). Ā My Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) had been accelerated, I left the hospital on oxygen and my respiratory doctor gave me 6 months to live.Ā My kidneys were damaged during the lung transplant.Ā  I investigated several programs and was accepted back to the Cleveland ClinicĀ as part of the UNOS Safety Net, after satisfying the prerequisites I received a cadaver kidney in four days. Ā I have had a variety of other issues including a 5th hernia repair, femur fracture, eyes lens (synthetic transplant) and 3 strokes.

I have frequently been called ā€œchosenā€ or a ā€œmiracle". Ā

In 2025,I accepted the government’s Deferred Resignation Program (DRP) effective 30 Sept 2025.Ā  I bought a Class B Recreational Vehicle… and now... roam.Ā  I have a ā€œBYRVR’ personal plate with a nearby Matt Foley/Chris Farley sticker...check out the SNL skit that inspired it HERE.Ā

The three of us (me, lung, kidney) … roam.

Ā ā€œWeā€ are the new hobo.

I am happy to assistĀ others and there are three things I would be interested in: consulting or speaking opportunities (I formerly worked for Oracle and more recently as a federal employee at the National Security Agency (NSA).Ā  Sponsorship to contribute to my travels (I’d even put signs/messages on my RV). Finding someone to travel with me.Ā  While I have friends to visit throughout the world, I need a co-driver and someone to keep an eye on me.

-Scott Hunter
