It's Aortic Disease Awareness Month - Spoon Theory

🥄✨ Let’s Talk About the Spoon Theory ✨🥄

Have you ever heard someone with a chronic illness say they’re “out of spoons”?

👉 The Spoon Theory is a simple way to explain what it’s like living with limited energy each day. Imagine you wake up with a handful of spoons. Each activity — getting dressed, making food, going to work, managing stress — costs you one or more spoons.

For people living with chronic illness, pain, or fatigue, spoons run out much faster. Sometimes even small tasks feel overwhelming, because energy is a limited resource. When the spoons are gone… they’re gone.

💡 Why this matters:

  • It helps explain invisible struggles in a way others can understand.

  • It reminds us that people with chronic illness often have to make tough choices about how to spend their energy.

  • It encourages compassion, patience, and support from family, friends, and caregivers.

💬 Next time someone says, “I don’t have enough spoons today,” you’ll know they’re not just talking about silverware — they’re talking about energy, health, and survival.

Let’s spread awareness and empathy. ❤️
