Today is Movement for Movement Monday at Aortic Hope!
👣 In 2020 Aortic Hope started a MOVEMENT for MOVEMENT!!!
❤️As we all know, doing nothing is doing something however, many of us need some support to simply get moving (whatever that may be for you)
🛑 DID YOU KNOW....many will begin to vacation soon and that may mean long car rides or flying. In Good Housekeeping, Victoria Chandler writes in her article, Easy In-Flight Exercises for When You Are Travelling that "For many, flying is rather exciting, especially when you're on your way to sun yourself in an exotic destination. However, it also means sitting for long periods of time, meaning it's important to stay active on a plane, even when you're desperate to lie back and binge-watch films."
"Sitting down for long periods of time can you make you more susceptible to Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) - poor blood circulation that causes blood clots to form."
‘Humans are not designed to sit completely still for more than a few hours,’ says a spokesperson from Monarch airlines. ‘As well as drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated, you should wear loose-fitting clothes and walk around the cabin when it’s safe to do so. We also always recommend flyers to do a few stretches and easy exercises at regular intervals.’
📰 This article reviews many different ways to do simple stretches to help avoid blood clots and just keep the body feel relaxed and comfortable. To view the article in its entirety, click here.
*Remember to discuss this with your physician first. Many of these movements discussed could be used (as a passenger) during as car/train ride.
✔️ It's time to work through the fear of moving. We CAN do this together!
