Come take your mind off of Aortic Disease and join Aortic Hope and Diane Bishop, the Aortic Artist for our first Arts & Crafts event, Wednesday, September 13th at 4pm EST on AHTV our YouTube channel.

This week Diane will be making "Lola" (and their is a "Ricky" version). It is a simple craft with materials that can use in the future.

To make this item you will need the following:

  • Ceramic flower pot (Walmart has them for $2.50) medium or large

  • Acrylic paints: (you can buy these from the dollar store @$5

    • Black

    • White

    • Red

    • Yellow

    • Blue

    • An alternate color if you choose like pink or purple

  • Paper plate to mix paint on

  • Paint brushes

    • The dollar store has them but they will fall apart quickly. Consider Five Below or Walmart. Get one large brush and a smaller brush for detail

  • Paper towel to wipe off brushes

  • A headband from the Dollar Store (nothing rigid) something that will decorate the "hairline"

  • Newspaper or something to cover where you will be painting to keep the area neat

  • Optional: A primer paint to change the color of the pot and a clear can of acrylic paint sealer

Diane will be able to take your questions as we are painting along with her LIVE.

"I am full of love and gratitude for this second chance of life. It took me almost actually dying to start living. The obstacles, fears and trials are now my victories. I've learned and found many blessings in what I thought was a curse. Though my body has a mind of its own, I have adjusted its needs, My scars are symbols of the battlefield and are a constant reminder of my victory. One of the things I have a passion for is ART. I am self-taught and find joy in creating whatever it may be. It is a great a fun way to relax. There are so many inexpensive ways to create. I promise you will have fun and laugh a lot. After all, laughter is great medicine. It's good for your heart and soul. LET'S CREATE!" ~Diane
