To honor Women in History Month, we want to share with you a woman who made a huge contribution in the medical field.
Found in WTS (Women In Thoracic Surgery), Melanie Edwards and Erin Gillaspie wrote "Nina Starr Braunwald: The Original Female Cardiothoracic Surgical Giant" and outlined the life of Dr. Nina Starr Braunwald, the first female cardiac surgeon.
Dr. Nina Starr Braunwald made headlines during a time when almost all specialty surgeons were men.
