It's Therapeutic Thursday at Aortic Hope.
🥵 It's too hot to write a long post or expect you to read one! Here is a thought from "US" to you ❤️
Hello, our fellow Aortic warriors! Today we want to rant about something that really grinds our gears: when people say you can't be sick because you look fine.
Seriously, how annoying is that? Do they think we have to look like zombies to prove that we have a condition that affects our daily lives? Do they think we enjoy being in pain, fatigue, or discomfort? Do they think we're faking it for attention or sympathy?
Let us tell you something: looking fine and feeling fine are two different things. Just because we don't have visible signs of our illness doesn't mean we don't suffer. We have learned to cope with our symptoms and put on a brave face, but that doesn't mean we're not struggling. We have good days and bad days, and sometimes we have to cancel plans or take a break because our bodies can't keep up. We're not lazy, we're not weak, we're not lying. We're just trying to live our lives the best we can.
So the next time someone says you can't be sick because you look fine, don't let them get to you. You know your body better than anyone else, and you don't owe anyone an explanation or a justification for your health. You are valid, you are strong, and you are not alone. And remember: you may look fine, but you're also fine as hell! 😉
