It's Therapeutic Thursday.

Today is Therapeutic Thursday at Aortic Hope.

❓ Remember the days when you had to actually call someone to hear about how they were doing it what they were doing?

🤔 Social media has made it too easy to get a glimpse into someone else's life or has it?

👉 You can't trust everything you see or how others portray their lives to be.  Regardless, it is very important to not compare yourself to others.  It is especially hard to NOT do this when you have a chronic medical condition.

❤️ In Scientific American, psychologist Dr. Ellen Hendrickson writes in her article titled "Stop Comparing Yourself To Others Using These 5 Tips" that:

"The technical term for 'comparing yourself to others' is upward comparison. This means comparing ourselves to someone we perceive to be better off or more proficient than ourselves."

🙄 While comparing ourselves to others is human nature, if it becomes out of hand, it can create unnecessary anxiety or depression.
