Exciting News!

Hey friends and family! Thought I was done for the day? While you are all doing the trivia challenge, I posted earlier today, I wanted to quickly write and share some exciting news.

The European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS) and Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) have just released a joint-document highlighting research-driven guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the Aortic organ! - https://www.annalsthoracicsurgery.org/article/S0003-4975(24)00077-8/abstract

You read that right, the Aorta was considered an independent, living, breathing organ during the drafting of these guidelines and not simply a blood vessel coming off the heart. Several leading world experts have reviewed countless papers and data to write the best recommendations for management of aortic disease at each anatomic region of the aorta.

In the coming weeks, we will be working to help highlight some of the document's major points so stay tuned!

Until then, be sure to do your part and continue to #ThinkAorta!
