Today is all about Genetics at Aortic Hope
❤️ We have a very special live Q&A at 4pm today on our YouTube channel with Dr. Stacy Fisher, Associate Professor (PAR) of Medicine from Johns Hopkins and she will be discussing genetics and the Aorta.
👉 In preparation for this discussion, UT Health Houston, The McGovern Medical School discussed in their article "Genetics 101" that:
"The genetic changes, also called mutations, that cause thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections to be inherited, or run in families, are very rare. It is important to note that genes themselves do not cause disease — genetic disorders are caused by mutations that make a gene, and subsequently the protein, function improperly."
If you would like to learn more about the some of the genes and mutations that pertain to Aortic disease, check out the article here.
